Jung Won Lee (b. 1994) is an artist based between Seoul, Korea and Brooklyn, NY. Informed by the built environment, the spaces designed for productivity, Lee’s work explores how functionality shapes the vulnerability of beings. She observes and celebrates the poetics of this vulnerability by capturing intimate moments within the mundane. Working primarily with industrial materials and found objects, she creates site-responsive sculptures, installations, and drawings. Believing that sharing vulnerability is one of the most powerful acts we can take, her practice aims to build structures of care.

Lee holds a BFA in General Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and a BA in Media Studies and Korean Language and Literature from Ewha Womans University. She has exhibited at Below Grand NYC and Subtitled NYC in Brooklyn, Hamiltonian Artists in Washington D.C., Current Space, Gateway Gallery (solo) in Baltimore, MD.
